MADI COFFMAN

Miss South Carolina Volunteer

Madi Coffman, crowned in June as Miss South Carolina Volunteer, will spend her year advocating for her S.E.R.V.E Initiative: the #LoveThyNeighborInitiative, which focuses on education and kindness despite differences in beliefs or backgrounds. Madi created the #LoveThyNeighborInitiative when her dad came out as gay— which inspired her advocacy for underrepresented groups and passion for inclusion. A 2022 graduate of the University of South Carolina, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education. While Madi was at USC she was the President of Teaching Fellows, Secretary of Gamecock Pageant Club, a U101 Peer Leader, and was involved in Carolina Band and Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society while also working part time at a Columbia-area restaurant and public charter school. Madi now teaches 3rd grade in Blythewood, SC and loves being able to make an impact on the next generation of leaders. At her school, she leads a girls mentorship group called LeadHERs, which focuses on empowering the 40 girls in the program with leadership skills, self-confidence, and helping them make friends. She also is a member of the UCS committee and helped her school achieve National Unified School distinction, which recognizes their inclusiveness of children with disabilities. Madi is so grateful for the opportunity and is so excited to represent South Carolina this year.
